Itinerary

Welcome to Colombo! Our representative will meet you at the Bandaranaike International Airport and then you’ll be escorted to your vehicle to begin your holiday in Sri Lanka with transfer to Chilaw. Proceed to Munneshwaram Temple: The Munneshwaram Kovil close to Chilaw, is one of the 5 major Shiva temples of Sri Lanka and Rameswaram islands. They are called Ishvarams. According to a Tamil legend, the temple is situated at a place where King Rama prayed to Shiva after committing the worst crime according to Hindu Dharma, namely Brahmahast the killing of a priest, because Ravana who had to be killed by Rama in order to liberate Sita, was of Brahmin caste. Rama stopped the Vimana vehicle at Munneswaram because of his feeling that the Doshana sin was not following him at this place. So he ascended from the vimana and prayed to God Shiva asking for a remedy. Shiva advised Rama to install four lingams at Manavari, Trinco, Mannar and Rameswaram for this purpose. Manavari Temple Visit: Manavari, about 6 kms north of Chilaw, is the first place where Lord Rama installed a Lingam, as a remedy to Lord Shiva after committing Brahmincide by killing the King Ravana who was a Brahmin. This Shiva Lingam in Manavari is called Ramalingam because it was made by Lord Rama. There are only two Lingams in the world named after Lord Rama, the other is in Rameswaram in India. Proceed to Dambulla.

After breakfast checkout & proceed to Trincomalee. Afternoon enjoy Trincomalee city tour. Koneswaram Temple: Koneswaram temple of Trincomalee (also historically known as the Thirukonamamalai Konesar Kovil, the Temple of the Thousand Pillars and Thiru-Konamamalai Maccakeswaram Kovil) is an Hindu temple in Trincomalee, Eastern Province,Sri Lanka venerated by Saivites throughout the continent. It is built atop Swami Rock, a rocky promontory cape overlooking Trincomalee, a classical period harbour port town. Shankari Temple : The famed SHANKARI Temple, in Sri Lanka, is one of the 18 Devi Temples (Ashta Dasha Shakti Peethas). Many have heard the Ashtadasha Shakti Peetha Shloka starting with LANKAAYAAM SHAANKARI DEVI.composed by Sri Adi Shankara which means Shankari in Lanka. This Shloka enumerates the list of places of Devi temples which are considered to be part of the 18 Devi Peethas.

After the breakfast & proceed to Sigiriya. Afternoon discover the 8 th wonder of the world – the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. Dating back to the 5th Century A.D, this astounding ‘city’ on the summit of a high outcrop was the royal citadel of King Kassapa for over 18 years. A miraculous feat of artistry and engineering, its unique features and exquisite frescoes continue to amaze all who visit it, even today. Evening climb to Dambulla cave Temple - also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World Heritage Site in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. This site is situated 148 kilometres east of Colombo and 72 kilometres north of Kandy. Dambulla is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. Rest of the free leisure at the Hotel.

After the breakfast & proceed to Kandy, enroute visit spice Garden & Gem Shop. Afternoon enjoy Kandy City tour. The hill capital of Sri Lanka; Kandy, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988. Not only is it a beautiful city surrounded by mountains, it is also home to significant historic and religious attractions such as the Temple of the Tooth Relic. Kandy Lake: The Kandy Lake is a Great place to People to watch in the shade of the ancient trees. Go for a walk with your travel buddy. One of the unique aspects of Kandy as its laidback streets. Full of colorful kaleidoscope of colonial building house. Temple of the Tooth relic: Explore the sacred temple of the Tooth relic, a historic location on both cultural and religious significance. The Temple of the Tooth Relic is the jewel in the heart of the old city, captivating and majestic. It is a greatly venerated site as the place that holds the Tooth Relic of the Buddha and thus attracts pilgrims from all over the world and the island Cultural Dance Show: Catch a cultural Kandyan dance show towards the end of the day to bring a close the most prefect day in the hill capital.

After Breakfast proceed to Nuwara Eliya, enroute visit a Tea Factory, one of the main sources of foreign exchange for Sri Lanka and recognized as Ceylon Tea is renowned for its high – quality aroma and taste & Sri Bhaktha hanuman temple, where Hanuman was searching for Sita, the Chinmaya Mission of Sri Lanka built the Sri Bhakta Hanuman Temple which is visited by thousands of devotees every year. Evening enjoy Nuwara Eliya city tour. Visit the spectacular Sitha Amman Kovil: According to legend, Seetha Amman temple is said to be the place that Ravana, King of Lanka kept Sita during his time. Have a Taste of Unique Nuwara Eliya: Try some of the freshest strawberries right from the very hub of the delicious and tangy fruit and explore the city for easts line the famous potato spiral. Smell the bloom at Hakgala Gardens: At 5400 ft above seal level the hakgala botanical garden has a history dating back to 1862. Take a walk amidst the blooms and become captivated. Explore the city’s Colonial History. Nuwara Eliya is full of colonial building such as the famous Post Office which is housed in an 1894 Tudor Manor.

After Breakfast check out and proceed to Colombo. Colombo - a drive through the city taking you to the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential, Cinnamon Gardens. Visit Fort, the former British administrative center and military garrison, Sea Street - the Goldsmith’s quarters in the heart of Pettah, the Bazaar area, where is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. The historic Dawatagaha Mosque and the former Eye Hospital are two buildings in Cinnamon Gardens worth looking at. Also visit the BMICH, see the replica of Avukana Buddha and the Independence Square. Also visit Anjaneyar Temple & Kalaniya Temple Anjaneyar Temple: This is the first Anjaneyar Temple in Sri Lanka and also the only Panchamuga (five faced) Anjaneyar Temple in Sri Lanka. Its the only temple in the world to have a chariot for Ajanyear. Kelaniya Temple: After King Ravana’s death, Vibeeshana was coroneted as King of Lanka by Lakshmana at Kelaniya. There are murals enshrined outside the Buddhist temple depicting the crowning of Vibeeshana. The Kelani River is mentioned in the Valmiki Ramayana and Vibeeshana palace was said to be on the banks of this river
